Carlos Canales, presidente de la Cámara Nacional de Turismo del Perú (Canatur), afirmó que la proyección de ingreso de turistas en el segundo semestre podría reducirse hasta en 25%, tras el anuncio realizado por el Departamento de Estado de EE. UU. sobre los motivos por los que no es recomendable para sus ciudadanos viajar a nuestro país.
De esta manera, los estadounidenses ubican al Perú en un nivel de alerta 3, siendo 4 el máximo, que es no viajar al país bajo responsabilidad individual. Ante ello, Canales aseveró que si dicho nivel de alerta ya estaba vigente desde hace unos meses, sin embargo, si continúa podría dañar la imagen de nuestro país.
“En el primer semestre del año ya estamos en 700.000 turistas. El segundo semestre siempre es mejor que el primero, eso significa que entre julio a diciembre deberían entrar no menos de 1 millón 200.000 personas. Esa proyección se puede poner en riesgo si no hay un trabajo coordinado de promoción de la imagen del Perú”, señaló Canales.
Por ese motivo, el presidente de la Canatur señaló que los titulares del Ministerio de Comercio Exterior y Turismo (Mincetur), Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y al Ministerio del Interior para que hagan los esfuerzos necesarios en garantizar la seguridad a todos los turistas que visiten nuestro país.
